TEMPORARY FOSTER CARE
Dogs Matter offers a safe and healthy environment for our client’s pet while they are seeking inpatient treatment, and if necessary, until they are healthy and stable enough to take care of their pet again.
No Cost
Our no-cost temporary foster program offers a safe and nurturing environment for pets while their owners undergo treatment for addiction.
Dogs Matter covers all necessary medical and supportive services, including spaying and neutering, to ensure each pet's well-being.
Supportive Services
Our primary focus is on the welfare of the pet, ensuring they receive the care and love they deserve while their owners focus on their recovery journey.
We also understand the importance of supporting the human side of the equation. That's why we offer comprehensive services to our clients, addressing their needs and providing a lifeline of support during their journey to sobriety.
Temporary
We prioritize inpatient treatment ranging from 30 to 90 days to ensure that pets receive the care they need until their owners are healthy and stable enough to reunite with them.
Currently, more time for treatment is necessary for long term recovery. This may include extending foster care for up to six months, and/or sober living support.
Reunion
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is reuniting pets with their owners once they've successfully completed treatment.
It's a moment filled with joy and hope, knowing that we've played a part in keeping families together and helping both humans and animals thrive.
Choice
The choice to hand over a pet, even if temporary, is often the single biggest objection a pet owner has who is facing an extended in-patient treatment program for alcohol or substance use disorder.
Over 90% of pet owners consider their pet part of the family. So, knowing their pet will be cared for in a safe and loving foster home eases any added stress allowing our clients to focus all their energy on healing.
After Care
Our commitment doesn't end with treatment completion. Through our Aftercare program, we continue to support clients and their pets for at least one-year post-treatment.
Our goal is to serve as a safety net for both pets and their owners, fostering long-term sobriety and well-being.
